Frequently Asked Questions

Most students experience sustained success and begin to reduce or even wrap up coaching after a full academic year, while others benefit from ongoing support over a longer period.

For all new clients, I highly recommend a minimum commitment of 12 weeks. This gives us enough time to build trust, establish a working relationship, and give you the space to learn, practice, and start integrating your new tools and strategies. For students with shorter-term or very specific goals, 12 weeks is often enough to see meaningful progress.

During your 12th session, you and I will check in together to reflect on your growth and talk through next steps. That might mean continuing weekly sessions, wrapping up coaching altogether, or switching to a more flexible “as needed” model. We can also increase the frequency or length of our sessions anytime, especially during busy or high-stress periods like midterms, finals, or major deadlines. We’ll adapt your coaching plan as needed to support you best.

In my experience, meaningful coaching requires time—not just to teach new skills, but to build a strong foundation of trust and consistency. A 12-week commitment allows us to meet weekly, create a supportive relationship, and give you the space to learn, practice, and truly start integrating executive functioning tools into your daily life. This kind of structure is essential for creating sustainable change.

After the initial 12 weeks, we’ll talk through what makes the most sense moving forward. That might mean wrapping up services, continuing weekly sessions, or shifting to a more flexible “as needed” model. We’ll co-create a plan that fits your goals and evolving needs.

New clients begin with weekly 50 or 75-minute one-on-one sessions. This structure helps lay a strong foundation for growth and increases the likelihood of meaningful, lasting results.

After the initial 12 weeks, I’ll reassess with you. Some students choose to continue with weekly coaching, while others shift to a more flexible “as needed” model. We can also increase session frequency—or extend session length to 75 or 90 minutes—during especially demanding times like exams, major deadlines, or high-stress periods. Whatever your needs, we’ll tailor the cadence to support you best.

I operate as a private-pay practice and do not accept insurance. Because coaching is not considered a medical service, it typically isn’t eligible for reimbursement. I’m also unable to provide superbills or accept HSA payments.

If you have any questions about payment options or need help understanding what’s covered, feel free to reach out—I’m happy to talk it through with you.

My goal at JMG College Coaching is to help students grow in independence and develop strong self-management skills. For that reason, I do not communicate with parents after the initial consultation and enrollment process.

If a student is missing sessions or not fully engaging, I’ll bring it up directly with the student during coaching. Together, we’ll create a plan to identify any barriers and find a way forward. If a student isn’t ready or able to commit to coaching after that, parental notification processes will be documented in our intake form.

If you're a parent seeking guidance on how to support your college student at home—or looking for coaching support for younger children—I also offer Parent Coaching for children and teens (K–12). You can learn more about those services by contacting me here.

Yes—discounts are available when more than one family member is enrolled in coaching at the same time. This includes Parent Coaching services as well. You can learn more about Parent Coaching here.

All payments are handled through Paperbell, the client portal I use for scheduling and billing. When you sign up, you’ll purchase a coaching package up front using a secure checkout link. You’ll be able to enter your payment method (credit card or ACH), and Paperbell will automatically manage future billing if you continue with coaching.

Invoices are generated automatically and emailed to you as soon as payment is processed. You’ll also be able to log into your Paperbell portal anytime to view your upcoming sessions, payment history, or purchase additional packages.

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy for all scheduled sessions. To avoid being charged for a missed session, please reschedule at least 24 hours in advance using Paperbell Client Log dashboard. [insert scheduling link].

Refunds are not available for prepaid sessions or unused make-up credits—but those sessions remain available to you and can be used at any point in the future within one year of purchase date.
